"The entertainment business has always been a magnet for talent of all kinds."
After I was downsized from Lockheed in 1993, I decided to go to work for the gaming industry, because I knew that they hired artists. At SEGA of America in 1994, we were still using dos file management, and building 8-bit 2D games. We used a software called DeLux Paint, invented by Electronic Arts (EA) the largest gaming company at the time. My art director was from Disney Studios, and they used DP there, too. In the year that I was there, we went from 2D Delux Paint to 3D Studio Max. Genesis was the first 3D SEGA platform. Shinobi, the first 3D fighting game, came out that year.
The internet was on the horizon.
