"I painted this picture from memory after a day trip to San Francisco with my 84 year old mother. We took the peninsula train to Third Street, then caught a trolley on Geary. We trudged up the road to the Palace of the Legion of Honor, through the old golf course that was built by the WPA in the 1930's, past the mossy, twisted, dignified old Cypress, only to discover that the museum was closed."
